Check your resume against the job you want.

A useful resume check starts with a specific job description. Jobsly compares your resume facts with that posting so you can review relevant skills, missing evidence and experience requirements together.

For US job seekers comparing an existing resume with a specific employer posting.

How to use Jobsly for this application

  1. Choose the right resume

Upload a PDF, DOCX or TXT resume to your profile and review the extracted facts.

  2. Review one job description

Import a public job URL or enter the employer’s details manually in Application Tools.

  3. Read the reasons

Compare skill evidence and experience requirements before deciding whether to tailor or apply.

What does an ATS resume checker actually tell you?

People often search for an ATS resume checker when they want to know whether a resume fits a role. A comparison tool can highlight relevant skills and requirements. It cannot reproduce every employer’s applicant tracking system, private screening rules or recruiter decisions.

Jobsly provides a resume-to-job comparison. It does not certify that your document will pass an employer’s ATS or predict your chances of an interview. Read the evidence and the posting alongside any score.

Experience and seniority matter alongside keywords

Matching React or Python does not make a two-year candidate a fit for every Staff Engineer role. In Discover, known experience and seniority conflicts are excluded by default. You can include incompatible results for review, where the conflict remains labeled.

When a requirement or resume fact is unclear, confirm it rather than treating the missing information as a positive match. A desired job title does not change the experience recorded in your resume.

Review the facts before changing the wording

Choose the profile and latest resume you intend to use, then review the imported job title, company, location and description. If a public URL cannot be read, enter the job details manually.

For US opportunities, check whether a remote role is restricted to a state or country. Confirm work authorization, sponsorship and salary details with the employer when the posting is unclear.

  • Compare required skills separately from preferred skills.
  • Keep job dates, qualifications and achievements accurate.
  • Treat missing evidence as something to investigate, not a reason to invent a skill.

Keyword overlap is one part of fit

Illustrative scenario: a resume states two years of experience with React and Node.js; a Staff Engineer posting requires eight years.

Relevant skills
React and Node.js may overlap with the posting.
Experience requirement
Two years does not meet an explicit eight-year minimum.
Useful next step
Review the mismatch and search for a role with compatible requirements.

Before you continue

  • The selected profile has the resume you intend to send.
  • The captured description belongs to this exact vacancy.
  • Required experience and role level are compatible.
  • Unclear country, salary or sponsorship requirements have been checked.

Questions before you apply

Is this an ATS pass/fail test?

No. Jobsly compares resume evidence with a posting. It does not run an employer’s private ATS or guarantee that a recruiter will select you.

Can I match a resume to a job description without an imported URL?

Yes. Application Tools offers reviewed manual job details when a URL is unavailable or incomplete.

Do missing keywords mean I should add them?

Only add a skill when it accurately describes your experience. Use missing terms to identify evidence to clarify or a genuine skill gap.
